Severence
As a graphic design student, the show Severance is a rich show in storytelling through its use of branding and product design. With visual storytelling used to create a new version of a corporate world. Lumon Industries uses a mid-century modern aesthetic with the use of a mix of techology to transport you to a different world. It’s use of muted colours and sans-serif typographic elements to create a traditional and basic world. Yet, this nostalgic design is twisted to create a controlling atmosphere.
The product design is impressive with extensive details with every part of the show. With different paper textures or handcrafted items such as the boring vending machine that seems suited in the world the designers had created. As simple as the design of pens can be appreciated. No detail is left behind.
Severance serves as a reminder that every detail matters. They focus on emersing their audiences in the story telling and this aspect is one of the key factors in doing so.
